Wanaka offers some of the best snowboarding in the southern hemisphere. Namely, Treble Cone, Cardrona and Snow Park. And not too far away are The Remarkables and Coronet Peak. With so many mountains to choose from there is truly something for everyone. For more information visit our snowboard resorts page.
The snowboard season in New Zealand kicks off in early June and ends in late October. July and August tend to be the best months, but spring can also offer great quality snow.
Of the three closest resorts, Treble Cone is by far the steepest and gnarliest of the mountains. Cardrona offers a variety of trails with a reasonable terrain park. Snow Park goes off with rails, pipes and big hits everywhere.
With snow covered peaks and beautiful lakes the scenery whilst snowboarding is spectacular. Wanaka, nestled at the end of Lake Wanaka, is what you'd expect from a vibrant snowboard town.
