The ski season in New Zealand kicks off in early June and ends in late October. July and August tend to be the best months, but spring can also offer great quality snow.
Of the three closest resorts, Treble Cone is by far the steepest and gnarliest of the mountains. Cardrona offers a variety of trails with a reasonable terrain park. Snow Park goes off with rails, pipes and big hits everywhere.
With snow covered peaks and beautiful lakes the scenery whilst skiing is spectacular. Wanaka, nestled at the end of Lake Wanaka, is what you'd expect from a vibrant ski town.
