Ski Resorts

Wanaka offers a perfect blend of ski resorts to suit any ability or preferred terrain. Of the three closest resorts, Treble Cone is by far the steepest and gnarliest of the mountains. Cardrona offers a mixture of trails to suit any level and also has a reasonable terrain park. Snow Park goes off with rails, pipes and big hits everywhere. Here they are in no particular order!

Treble Cone35 minute drive
Spread over three large basins there are trails to suit all ages and skill levels. From the purpose-built learner area with a Magic Carpet Lift, to comfortable, groomed green and blue runs, through challenging black runs and secret powder stashes, Treble Cone has great terrain for all levels of ability.

Treble Cone offers more intermediate and advanced terrain than any other South island ski area with off-piste powder skiing and boarding unrivalled.

Cardrona35 minute drive
Higher, drier, naturally better. Located between Wanaka and Queenstown with a base elevation of 1670m above sea level, Cardrona is higher, colder and renowned for dry natural snow and wide, open slopes.

Cardrona is a great place for learners with 3 magic carpet lifts, a platter lift and a beginner quad chair. Its also a favourite with families, providing complete solutions for children from 3 months to 12 years in three purpose-built facitilites. It also has two quad chairlifts (including one high speed detachable) servicing three valleys of intermediate and advanced terrain.

Cardrona's halfpipes, gravity cross course and terrain park trails make it a popular playground with freestyle skiers and boarders. These facilities host a number of national and international events throughout the season.
